How to Handle Shedding

How to Handle Shedding

If you live with a dog, you already know hair gets everywhere. On your couch, your clothes, your morning coffee. It’s all part of the game. But there are a few easy ways to manage the shedding without losing your mind (or your black jeans).

Brush, Brush, Brush
Regular brushing is the simplest fix. It keeps loose hair from flying all over your house and helps your dog’s coat stay healthy. Try a de-shedding brush a few times a week, your future self will thank you.

Bathe Smart, Not Constantly
A bath every 4–6 weeks helps remove loose fur and dead skin. Use a mild, dog-safe shampoo so you don’t dry out their skin. And towel-dry well, wet fur just sticks to everything.

Feed for a Healthy Coat
What your dog eats shows up in their coat. Omega-3s and good protein help keep fur soft and skin less flaky. You don’t need fancy supplements; just ask your vet or check your food label for fish oil or salmon.

Keep Up with Cleaning
A lint roller and a good vacuum are must-haves. Quick daily touch-ups beat long weekend cleanups. And if you’re leaving the house in dark clothes, maybe give yourself one final roll-over before the door.

A little shedding is totally normal because it’s your dog’s way of staying comfy and cool. You can’t stop it completely, but with a little routine, you can keep the fur storm under control and enjoy more snuggle time without the sneeze attacks.

Did we mention brush, brush, and brush some more?
